About
At just twenty, New York City native Tobin Jacoby is already a seasoned jazz pianist and composer. He plays private events, concerts, and festivals solo and as a bandleader and also teaches private lessons in piano and music theory.
Tobin has performed with the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Big Band and Jazz Combo, the French Woods Jazz Ensemble, the Manhattan School of Music Summer Big Band, the Coast Jazz Orchestra, jazz band Clave, and jazz band Crescent. Growing up in NYC, Tobin was exposed to a diverse range of artists and musicians that continue to shape who he is today. His favorite place to be is at the piano bench, where he draws inspiration from Chick Corea, Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, Kenny Barron, Fazil Say, Phillip Glass, and João Gilberto.
Tobin began playing piano at age five under the instruction of William Cammarota and started studying jazz piano in middle school. Tobin formerly studied guitar with Vern Woodhead, cello with Jordan Brown, and piano with Henrique Eisenmann and Joe Block. Tobin attended The Dalton School, and was also a student at the Manhattan School of Music’s precollege jazz program, where he studied with Jeremy Manasia. He currently is a student at Dartmouth College, studying Cognitive Science and minoring in French.
